SBIG - Standard 8-Position Filter Wheel for the STT Series Cameras - DISCONTINUED

The SBIG standard 8 position STT filter wheel is compatible with the Canon EOS and Nikon lens adapters.

The STT filter wheel can hold a maximum of 8 36mm filters (with inserts available for 1.25" filters). There is a self-guiding CCD in the filter wheel to avoid light being captured after passing through filters and a optional filter wheel cover is available for users who have Nikon or Canon 35mm camera lenses who want to do wide angle imaging or for anyone who does not need or want the built-in self-guiding. 36mm LRGB and Narrowband filter sets are available from Baader Planetarium, Astrodon, and Astronmik for unvignetted imaging at any focal ratio. Filters will remain in the exactly the same position over the sensor regardless of disturbances due to the centering mechanism design by SBIG.

The new SBIG testing, using this filter wheel with the STT-8300 CCD camera, there was a 5.4 microns accuracy of filter re-positioning after several complete rotations of the carousel.

In our tests of the new design, using an STT-8300, the re-positioning of the filters was accurate to better than 5.4 microns after several complete rotations of the filter carousel. This ensures accuracy of 1 pixel will be prominent in flat fields even after filters have moved. This degree of precision means that flat fields taken after the filter has moved and returned are accurate to a single pixel.
