The Canon TS-E 50mm f/2.8L Macro is a standard-length tilt-shift lens that can be used for product photography. It features a variety of features, such as its ability to close-focus and control perspective. Up to 8.5 of tilt can be used for focus control, and up to 12mm of shift can be used for adjustment of the composition. Its tilt-locking mechanism provides additional stability while shooting.

The ability to control perspective and tilt-shift with a combined factor of 12mm and 8.5 of tilt makes it an ideal choice for capturing portraits. In addition, the two movements can be applied perpendicular or independently. The functions can also be rotated 90 degrees to apply the movements in different directions.

A large tilt knob and the lens' locking mechanism ensure that it stays in place even while shooting. It features two ultra-low dispersion components that help minimize chromatic aberrations and color fringing. One of these also helps reduce spherical distortions and improve sharpness.

The various elements of the lens have been coated with Subwavelength Coatings and Air Spheres to reduce the internal and surface reflections. This can help minimize the effects of ghosting and flare.
